How to build a niche in a bathroom wall.
In our example the niche is 26 1 2 wide 18 high and 2 3 4 deep.
Assemble the recessed bathroom shelves.
Measure the height and width of the niche.
Glue the back of the assembled frame then attach the 1 4 plywood back with brad nails.
This can be either 1 2 inch like the wallboard or you can go thinner with 1 4 inch thick board for example.
Next mark the outlines or cutlines on the wall by using a pencil.
A wall niche is easy to install and is a great way to display some of your favourite collectables.
Cut a piece of backer board to install in the back of the niche.
The advantage of a thinner board on the back wall is that it gives you a little bit deeper of a shelf.
Place the build in set into the desired position.
Then using a pencil transfer the measurements of your niche onto the plaster wall.
Score the marks with a utility knife and use a hammer to knock out the drywall.
Use the spirit level to make sure your marks are straight and level.

Carefully cut out the cavity using a saw or angle grinder.
Finally put the cabinet into the wall level it then nail through the stiles into the studs with 2 1 2 in.
